Every tool on Werkr runs entirely inside your web browser using modern browser APIs. When you compress an image, merge PDFs, decode a JWT, or format JSON, all of that processing happens locally on your own device. Your files and data never travel over the network to any server we control.

Most "free" online tools are free because your data is the product. Files you upload get stored on servers, sometimes indefinitely. Many tools require email registration and proceed to fill your inbox. Others embed trackers that follow you around the web.
Werkr takes a different approach. Because every tool runs in your browser, your data stays with you. Sensitive documents like contracts, private photos, confidential spreadsheets, and personal financial data never need to leave your device. There's no server-side processing, no file retention policy to worry about, and no account holding a history of everything you've converted or compressed.
The trade-off is that some features require network calls — DNS lookups, SSL certificate checks, and IP geolocation queries have to reach out to external APIs by their nature. In those cases, only the domain or IP address you explicitly ask about is sent, never your files or personal data.

Werkr is a single-page web application delivered through Cloudflare's global network. The first time you visit, your browser downloads the application — all the tool code, styling, and logic. After that initial download, Werkr installs a service worker that caches the app locally.
Because of this architecture, Werkr works offline after your first visit. If you're on an airplane, in a location with spotty connectivity, or just prefer not to rely on a live internet connection for basic file processing, Werkr will keep working as long as your browser tab is open.
Each tool is built with standard browser APIs: the Canvas API for image processing, PDF.js and pdf-lib for PDF manipulation, the Web Crypto API for hashing, the File API for reading local files, and the Clipboard API for copying results. There's no proprietary plugin or server-side runtime involved.
